The UG Department of English, since its inception in 2016, has opened up huge opportunities for its students to master both English language and literature. The faculty always cater to foster the language competency, analytical reasoning and critical thinking of the learners from diverse background to meet the requirements of academic and real life contexts. With this end in view, the department regularly organises various literary activities under the auspices of Literary Club and Readers’ Forum. It has an excellent track record of getting majority of its students qualified for higher studies.
The department offers BA Honours Programme in English with specialisation in Cultural Studies. As an interdisciplinary field, Cultural Studies provides a subtle understanding of how literary texts deal with the issues of social identity, power relation and literary representation. Specialisation in Cultural Studies enables the learners to pursue a career in cultural management, content writing, journalism, teaching, media and film industry.
