DR. P.V. SASI
Principal
After acquiring the Post Graduate degree in Chemistry from St. Thomas College, Pala he started his career as Assistant Chemist at FACT (CD), Aluva in 1985. He then moved to Cochin Refinery Ltd (CRL) and worked as Associate Chief Chemist and by 1987 onwards he entered in Collegiate Education service. He worked at Govt. Polytechnic College Vennikulam then promoted and posted as Lecturer in Chemistry at Govt. Victoria College Palakad. After six years of services he was posted at Maharaja’s College Ernakulam as Selection Grade Lecturer. He served there for 20 years in various capacities like, Coordinator, B.Sc Chemistry (Environment & Water Management Course), Chairman- Board of Examiners, B.Sc Environmental Chemistry, Convener Expert Committee, Convener Scholar Support Programme, Subject Expert Panel of Kerala Public Service Commission.. In the course of time he took his Ph, D degree from Mahatma Gandhi University in Synthetic Organic Chemistry and has deep knowledge in Retro synthetic Analysis, Isolation of Natural Products, Physical Chemistry, Spectroscopy, Quantum Chemistry and Analytical Techniques. He has organized Science Popularization Lecture Series, Science day celebrations, actively involved as Joint Coordinator in PAC meeting, Patent Awareness Workshop and also the Indian Association of Chemistry Teachers meeting. He conducted various Science Extension Programmes. In connection with his research work of isolation in crystalline form of Garcinia and Hibiscus Acids, he was awarded 2 Indian Patents and 1 American Patent. There were several publications in peer –reviewed journals. In 2010 he joined in the Department of Chemistry, Government College, Kottayam and served as the Head of Department and also became the Principal of this college in 2014. In 2015 he was appointed as First Grade Principal at Maharaja’s College Ernakulam and by 2016 he retired as the Deputy Director of Collegiate Education, Zonal office Thrissur. While he was working as visiting faculty in Chemistry at Institute of Integrated Programm and Research in Basic Sciences (IIRBS), MG University he took charge as the Principal of PRDS College of Arts & Science, Amara, Changanacherry in the year 2021.
